About PK Kids

Grief is easier shared with a friend.
When a child loses a loved one, they can often feel alone.

Even in a loving family, grieving children can feel like they have been singled out, like they are the only kid who has lost someone they love. And because kids grieve differently than grown-ups, adults cannot always provide the support and friendship a grieving child needs.

At Pandora’s Kids, we believe kids in grief help other kids in grief. Through their shared experiences, kids become “Wounded Healers,” giving each other the support and friendship that can only be found from someone just like them.

We unite kids in grief, giving them a place to talk if they want, listen if they choose or just be with other kids in grief. We open the doors to new friendships through shared events, activities and forums. We let kids know they are not alone. They are one of many of Pandora’s Kids.

PK Services

  • Grief Programs

Pandora’s Kids partners with local organizations to provide experiences that are fun and create the opportunity for new friendships to form among kids in grief. At various times throughout the year, we offer music, art, equine, sports and other programs for kids to choose from. Programs are age-appropriate, run for a series of weeks and are developed with the help of our team of therapists. Registered PK Kids are eligible to participate in the programs of their choice based on age requirements and availability.

  • Special Events

Pandora’s Kids offers “Grief on the Go” Events throughout the year through our alliance with Tomorrow’s Rainbow. These one-day events combine problem solving activities, lessons in coping skills, peer group support and equine-assisted therapy to help manage difficult emotions. Kids get to enjoy a fun-filled day while learning valuable techniques to manage the many challenges of dealing with loss. Special events dates and information are posted on our Programs page.

  • Family Support

Supporting kids in grief means supporting their families too. Pandora’s Kids provides opportunities for grieving parents to engage with each other through social and grief support events. As a registered Pandora’s Kids family, you will receive invitations to meet other families and gain support through social events and grief support opportunities. When your child is registered with us, so is your entire family. Register your child and start receiving the support you need.

  • Grief Resources

Grief support can be found in many different ways. Our library of Grief Resources is updated regularly and available on our website. A list of age-appropriate books for kids, adult books, online resources and grief support organizations can be found in the Grief Resources section of our website.
